Seek ye first happiness and......

Lately - I've been hearing a lot of people talk about their desire to be happy.  I get that - really I do.  I once used to be one of those people who desired and was seeking happiness.

I did a google search for "bible happy"- and came across an interesting site:
https://www.openbible.info/topics/being_happy

The interesting part about the site is none of the Bible verses mention happiness or "happy".

Which I think is where a majority of people and a majority of Christians get it wrong.

Definition of happy:  feeling or showing pleasure or contentment

Definition of joyful:  feeling, expressing, or causing great pleasure and happiness

Joy - in the Hebrew comes from the word 'simchah' which means: blithesomeness or glee, (religious or festival):—× exceeding(-ly), gladness, joy(-fulness), mirth, pleasure, rejoice(-ing)

While the words are quite similar - it would seem they are also different.

The Bible teaches Christians to live by the fruit of the spirit.

http://sincerelysarad.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Fruit-of-the-Spirit3.jpg

Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

To all people - where does it say happy or happiness in that verse?

In my experience happiness is a temporary feeling.  I'm happy in this moment.  Joy is a long term feeling.  I may not be happy about my job, I may not be happy about the amount of money I'm making and I may not be happy with how my family or friends are treating me.  But - I can say I'm joyful - because I still have a roof over my head, I'm being looked out for by the Lord God.

Again - the problem in the world is people are seeking happiness.  The Bible doesn't teach such a thing.  The Bible doesn't teach - seek happiness.  The Bible teaches in Matthew 6:33:

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Interesting - if I seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness - happiness and other things I am seeking will be added to me.

Do you see the problems that we now have in the world and why we have them?  A majority of people seek happiness first - oh wait isn't that something selfish?  Hmmm...But you see - a majority of people seek happiness first and in the process others are left out; they will continue seeking happiness and never find it.  As I already said - happiness is a temporary thing.  Seeking happiness is where addiction may stem from.  Seeking happiness is where problems stem from.

There are 2 great commandments that Jesus gave in Mark 12:30-31:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

If you are seeking happiness first - the questions you need to ask yourself are these:
·         Do you love the Lord with all your heart and soul and mind and strength?
·         Do you love your neighbour as yourself?
·         More importantly - do you love yourself?

People who tend to seek happiness are people who don't love themselves.  They aren't confident with who they are.

Trust me - I know from experience.  I used to once live a life where I sought after happiness and worldly things - and at one point in time, I realized and actually asked myself this question:  Is this all there is to life?

It wasn't long after that - when I had my "intervention" with Jesus - and my journey started.  I no longer seek happiness.

I share these blogs with you - because I want all of you to know there's another way to life.  There's a better way where you can be joyful, and have your moments of happiness.  I truly believe if everyone lived out the way of seeking God's kingdom first - we'd all be happy and we'd have peace on Earth.

It is mostly for these reasons and other of my blog posts that I believe we live in a world that lacks God - and mostly because people reject God or reject his teachings.

Be blessed,

I love you all!

Love is patient....

The other day I was reading through the Bible and was making my way through a very known Bible verse:  1 Corinthians 13.

Marshall Erikson from How I met your Mother did a good rendition of it(Season 2 episode 22):

Horrible wedding clichés we're not going
to touch with a ten-foot limbo pole.
Oh, like First Corinthians?
That Bible verse?
They do that at every wedding.
How's it go?
"Love is patient and kind.
"Love does not envy or boast.
"It is not arrogant or rude.
"Love does not insist
on it's own way.
"It is not irritable
or resentful.
"Love bears all things,
"believes all things,
"hopes all things...
"endures all things."

Love is patient they say?!

What patience though?
According to Mr Webster, patience is:  the capacity, habit, or fact of being [able to remain calm and not become annoyed when waiting for a long time or when dealing with problems or difficult people]

Ok then....

Image result for i don't think it means what you think it means gif

Well - I was reading this passage in the King James Version (KJV) of the bible and here's how it read:

[Love] suffereth long, and is kind; [love] envieth not; [love] vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Suffereth long seems to be so much better than "is patient".  Patient seems to have so much room for interpretation based on what each person believes it to mean - but when you read "suffereth long" - it really hits home.

Where there is love - there will be suffering.  If people tell you that love is all rosy and everything else - they're lying to you.  But - the suffering should not be the suffering of you hurting the other person.  It's more of a you are suffering because you want what's best for the other person, they don't listen and as a result they get hurt and this leads to you suffering.  You warned them because you love them.  You warned them because you're trying to look out for them.  You warned them because you see a potential in them that you want to see them achieve.  Them falling short leads to you suffering.

Jesus suffered long on the cross.    He suffered getting whipped and all other physical abuse prior to the cross.  He suffered when he was betrayed.  Still with that - he continued to love.

Image result for love is patient

With love there is a passion - I wrote briefly about this as a tribute to my uncle and how this ties into love and suffering (see here:  http://thejoshuejourney.blogspot.ca/2015/07/the-real-tom-green.html)

Today when I look at the world - I don't see a world that loves their neighbour as themselves.  I see 1 - parents buying iPhones for their kids because all their friends have one(thou shall not covet thy neighbours' belongings), 2 - I see families fighting over money(love of money is the root of all evil), 3 - I see siblings not speaking to one another (Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.)

If we look at these 3 items I just mentioned and compare to 1 Corinthians 13 - we can clearly see how they fall short from love.

1 - Why does your child want the phone?  Yes - I'm asking why your child wants the phone and not why you're buying it for them.  They want the phone because their friends have one.  But isn't it written:  love does not envy???  And parents - should we not be teaching our children this?
2 - Why are families fighting over money?!  Pretty much the same thing as item 1 - they want something that the other person has.  They are jealous of the other - but again - it is written:  Love does not envy.
3 - Why are siblings not talking to one another?  Is it because one has something the other doesn't have?  Well - love doesn't envy.  Is it because one sibling is upset at what the other sibling did?  Well love is not irritable or resentful.

If you find yourself in one of these 3 items in any way - you should pray about it.

It's clear we live in a world where people don't love their neighbours as themselves.  The only way this can get fixed is through prayer, and recognizing our behaviour when these situations comes up.

Where are the Christian Leaders in Presidential Election?

So – it’s probably about time that I write something about the Presidential Election in the US of A.  Not being an American citizen makes this so much easier too.  In the USA there is a “law” known as the “the Johnson Amendment”, which refers to a change in the U.S. tax code made in 1954 which prohibited tax-exempt organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates.

Churches and Religious Organizations
It’s good to know that Churches and Religious Organizations are tax exempt organizations.  But at what cost does this come?  They are prohibited from endorsing or opposing political candidates.

Which leads me to ask?  Where are the Jesus-like Church leaders?  Where are the Peters?  Where are the Johns?

Mahatma Gandhi is known for having said:  I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians.  Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

If we examine that along with how Church leaders are in regards to not speaking out about the political candidates – I’d say they are a bunch of cowards.  Church leaders should do as Jesus did, even if that means being penalized.  They should do as Peter and John did to the point that they would be whipped for doing what is “wrong” in the eyes of the law – in order to do what is right for people.

It would be right for Church leaders to advise people that neither Hillary nor Trump should be President – yet here we are with these two as the Presidential candidates.

Gandhi – is also known for having read repeatedly the Sermon on the Mount – a sermon that is the most powerful sermon in history.  Examining this sermon we see Jesus repeatedly say:

  • “Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time”
  • “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time”
  •  It hath been said”
  •  Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time”

And it goes on and on…..just read Chapter 5 of Matthew and you will see.

So – the Bible even demonstrates the Hebrews as not always having had a King – for God was their King……

BUT…
Samuel 8:6 - But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us.
Samuel 8:7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them

Samuel 8:10-18
And Samuel told all the words of the Lord unto the people that asked of him a king.
11 And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
12 And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
13 And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
17 He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.

One thing that it doesn’t say…….BUT if it were asked to Jesus I’m sure it would have gone something like this:

  • Lord, is it ok to have a President to watch over us?
  • No – you should only have God to watch over you
  • But Lord – why did Samuel give us King Saul?
  • King Saul?  Because of the hardness of your hearts!  But from the beginning it was not so.  In the beginning, it was God in the garden with people, with God as King.  In Heaven it is God with his people – and may God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven without Presidents and kings.

Christian leaders don’t teach you this though.  Instead they teach you to support our Government leaders and so on; which this is true from a certain perspective.  The only thing is – we should be praying for our Government leaders that they would come to know the truth and depart from politics.

Instead Church leaders are silent.  When people say a judgement is coming upon America, this may be true and God is allowing it to happen – but mostly because Church leaders are silent.  They are being “paid off” likely in some way(tax exemptions).

Here’s the judgement for those Church Leaders, as stated in Ezekiel 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
It would be better for the Church leaders to speak out and face the consequences of the law and perhaps lose their tax exemption – than to remain silent.

Speaking out should not be done in the way John Hagee has done though.  He’s clearly a puppet in doing something and his prophecy teachings are a farce.  BUT it can be assumed he’s supporting Trump.

What Church leaders should be doing is teaching the ways of old – and why the political leaders in power are putting in Principalities that are just horrible.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The only way to rid of these powers is to stop supporting them and to start supporting God and each other.

Equal Rights - Part I

You know – I wrote a blog a few months ago, maybe even longer, about double standards and loving your neighbour as yourself, etc.  Actually as I think about it, it may have been a series of blogs.

As of late -  I have seen a lot of attacks towards different religions from people.  These attacks may have been due to the marriage equality law change in the USA, or perhaps even the Caitlyn Jenner(formerly Bruce Jenner) discussion.

Christians are generally attacked or “judged” for their beliefs.  If you call yourself a Christian but have different beliefs on certain topics you can still be judged for those certain topics even if you disagree with them.

So – I may be judged for a homosexual topic, or a sex-change topic, and you may not even know where I stand on these individual topics, but because I’m a Christian I somehow deserve to be judged like everyone else.

The problem is not that you hate Christianity as a whole.  The problem is you hate the fundamentalists, or you hate the people who don’t really practice their religion or study their religion and they know enough verses here and there to be able to say “homosexuality is wrong” or whatever other topic may come up, or you hate the extremists.

Then again – you’re probably part of a group that has extremists.  If you’re a feminist – there are extremists within feminism who go so far down that path that they believe that women should have more rights than men.  Yet every time I talk to a woman who says she’s a feminist, she says that she’s for equal rights.

The point is a majority of people who know about Christianity but aren’t Christians, are quick to show that it says many things in the old testament about things you can and can’t do.  The problem is many people don’t understand the why.

The whole purpose of this is everybody tells Christians to leave their ideology at home, yet every other group has a right to express their ideology.

If someone else comes up to me and tells me that they have a problem with Christianity and point to an Old Testament verse – I’m going to flat out tell you that your problem is not with Christianity but with Judaism.  While Christianity would be better called Judeo-Christianity, if I live under the New Covenant/Testament – why does everyone judge Christianity based on the past.

If I’ve been given a nickel for all the times I’ve been told “don’t judge” since becoming a Christian, I’d be a rich man.  The issue is I’m only expressing an idea.  At the same time, if I can count the number of times I’ve been judged since becoming a Christian, I’d be even richer.

My point here is this:  don’t judge an entire group because of certain “sects” within the group.  Some people say that Christianity is against feminism – yet the Bible teaches love your neighbour as yourself.  Some people say Christianity is against homosexuality.  Well technically Christianity is against sex outside of marriage period.  This is an ideology.  Some people agree with it while others disagree.  If you disagree, then don’t become a Christian, or find a sect of Christianity that does agree with what you want.

You want equal rights?  Don’t judge me and I won’t judge you.  You want equal rights?  Judge me and I’ll judge you.  You want equal rights?  Disrespect me, and I’ll disrespect you.  You want equal rights?  Respect me and I’ll respect you.

Slut-Shaming preacher

A response to the Slut-Shaming preacher video:  http://m.vice.com/vice-profiles/slut-shaming-preacher

So – the video essentially starts off with the guy wearing a T-Shirt saying “You whore” and showing a woman stating how rude that is. He states his intent to show people they should change. She asks “Why am I a whore?” He didn't say that she was, but because the shirt was pointing at her with the “you whore” - she took it to mean her. The question for her, is why did she get so defensive at the shirt?

Essentially – my question is, how different is this then the person who first wore the “I'm with stupid” t-shirt? Essentially nothing different then the wording. The people who generally get offended by these types of things – are people who feel convicted of this.

Now – this guys goal is to preach against the sin of “immodesty”. Anything wrong with this? No – especially when there's all this hype lately about rapists, etc.

So, essentially we next see him preaching on a street corner saying “Give up your immodest clothing”.

Next we see a commentary of someone named Jessica Rech – essentially she says she doesn't know if brother Dean Saxton has relationships with women or not, but adds that she's not sure how or why some women agree with his view point.

Next Nissi Powell explains it well – he preaches to try and get a reaction out of people and hopes to convert people in the process. She adds that if his goal is to convert people, then he's doing a horrible job.

Then we see him going on a tangent on “you deserve rape”. Now – from a human rights perspective, I'd have to say quite the opposite you don't deserve rape. My problem is – I'm not 100% in favour of human rights. I agree with them to a point, but in my book they even go against the teachings of the Bible.

Am I saying one deserves rape? No – what I'm going to say is much worse. Because of our sin – we are deserving of every horrible possible thing imaginable to happen to us. Now – as bad as that sounds, I have a hope in something far greater. I believe that 2000 years ago a man known as the Son of God, the Messiah, the Christ, Jesus – died on the cross for my sins so that I don't deserve any of those things. It has nothing to do with what I've done – it's all about what Jesus did.

So – he's preaching “you deserve rape”. Well that is kind of harsh. Let me put it this way.

Jesus taught this:
Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Really? If a man looks at a woman to lust after – he's committed already. Now, knowing this women go and dress in such provocative ways that may lead men to lust after a woman – and therefore has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Ladies – as harsh as this is going to get. You dress in that sexy outfit the guy looks at you in that way. You smile – well guess what. You just fucked the guy in your heart.

So – why would one be deserving of rape if they're dressed in a provocative way?
Again – Jesus said some harsh things:
Luke 17:1-2 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!   2  It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Essentially – as harsh as it gets, woe unto the person who causes one to sin. If you know that guys ogle you when you're wearing that skimpy dress or that really low cut shirt, or that mini dress – based on what Jesus taught woe unto you.

As harsh as that may seem – you can have hope. Jesus died on the cross for you, so that you wouldn't be deserving of anything bad to happen to you.

If there's one thing I have learned recently – if something bad does happen to you even if you are a believer – know that someone greater is coming because God allowed that to happen to you, so that he could show you his glory.

Anyways – I shall continue on....

Now – I have an issue when he says “Most of your dads, are ashamed of you”. Is this true? Is your dad ashamed of you? Or does your dad even know all the things you've done? The truth is – as it is in a lot of scenarios in this generation – one of the parents isn't in the picture for the most part and your dad may not even know what you're doing – and furthermore may not have seen you in a long time. Although I may agree if the person's dad is in the picture that your dad may be ashamed of what you're doing – in most scenarios, I blame the fathers for not having done their job as a father.

Now – just because a father hasn't done his job – doesn't mean that what happens in today's world is right. We should teach the older generation where they fell short – and not teach them in speaking – teach them with our actions. You'd be surprised at what they'd say and probably see how much more proud they are of you.

I say that because – after Jesus was baptized – the heavens opened and God said “This is my Son – in whom I am well pleased” - and this was Jesus doing this of His own free will – without his Father always be present and having to tell him what to do every step of the way.

Continuing on.....

It then shows a woman saying to him “I once heard you say that woman shouldn't be allowed on campus and they should be essentially in the kitchen.”

Now in an off scene thing it shows him refer to Ephesians 5:22 “Wives submit unto your husbands.” Now – for that I wrote a whole other blog that I won't re-write here, but you can check it out here:

Next it shows Jessica saying “you know – if he really wanted to bring people into christianity, he'd be better off to hold up a sign and that says – Have questions about Christianity? And be there with a guitar playing songs”

Oh – how people outside of a belief system are blind to people from within the belief system. The other day I walked outside of a big shopping mall and saw some Jehovah's witnesses standing there with all their books and a sign that said “what the Bible really teaches” - I stood there waiting for the bus for about 10-15 minutes and in that time not one single person asked them anything or approached them.

Christians never stayed silent since the beginning of Christianity. Peter and John taught all over. Paul went to Rome and taught in the Roman temples. Peter, John and Paul did that to the point that people wanted to kill them. Paul eventually was and Peter was crucified upside down.

Let's hold up a sign she says. How many people were killed for holding up a sign for a belief system?

Is he right when he says - The people on this campus need a double dose of the Word of God??? Well that may be an understatement. They may need a triple dose or more. I'd like someone reading this who isn't a practicing Christian to give a few verses from the Bible. Could be anywhere and tell me what it teaches based on those few verses.

I probably have 5-7 sermons I can deliver right now based on a few verses I know off the top of my head, and I'm only asking you for one.

When he continues on – he starts to open up how he is probably one of the most hated people in the city. I'll tell you right now who hates him. The people who are guilty of all the “sins” he talks about.

As much as Jesus taught about love – it wasn't the people who loved him who Crucified Him. It wasn't the Romans who Crucified him. It was the Jewish Leaders who were guilty of all the things Jesus called out on. Just go read Matthew 23 and see why they wanted to kill him. Again – for those who say Jesus didn't judge – I dare you to go read Matthew 23. Beautiful Chapter, you'll love it!

It then shows the guy talking to some people on the corner – and they tell Dean to get a real hobby. Dean is genuine in his response, asks the guy for some of his hobbies, and this leads to the one guy saying “Not being a fucking asshole”.

Who's the bad guy here?

- The lady in the red hat

It gets good when this one lady wearing a red ball cap starts saying that he's like hatred and God doesn't hate on anybody? Oh really? I'd like to know what verses of the Bible she's read and ignored to understand that God doesn't hate.

Perspective time:
If God loves life, then God would hate death, right?
If God loves purity, then God would hate impurity, right?
If God loves faithful people, then God would hate unfaithful people, right?

I love the people(note the sarcasm) who don't have a relationship of any sort with their “God”, who don't read the Bible, etc. - yet these same people can tell me that they know more about my God then they do. Interesting.... That's like saying to Rocket Designer that he doesn't know what he's doing and you don't have the slightest bit of knowledge about rocket design – yet you're going to tell the Rocket Designer that he doesn't know what he's talking about. Really? Really?! Think about this for a moment.

Anyways – this same lady in the red hat says it's interesting how he says he hates everyone. Really people – don't put words in someone else's mouth. He said they were going to hell. Now – the term Hell shows up in most places in the Bible as two original language words. In Hebrew the word is Sheol, and in Greek the word is Hades. Both these words mean Grave. When someone dies they are going to Sheol or Hades and this means they are going to the grave. WOW! Isn't this what atheists have said for years? Nothing new here – but again people would rather listen to that priest on Sunday than read what their bible actually has to teach them.

She then says that God doesn't judge. Really? I think she should go read the Old Testament – or again go read Matthew 23 – because God Judges a lot. In my mind she's an ignorant lady who needs to get a double dose of the word of God – and well a few prayers would also help.

Then she has the nerve to say “maybe you should get your dick sucked” - amazing how he wasn't doing anything wrong yet she has to go and say those things. Some ignorant people don't know how they prove the Bible true all the time. The Bible teaches people are evil and wicked. What did she say to him again?

What are my thoughts on this guy?

He has some points I agree with 100% - but at the same time – I have my differences.

Depending on comments - I may perhaps right another message.

MLKJ - I have a dream... Part II

I have a dream....

Oh – how many people have dreams, or ideas of what the future may look like – or more so how the future should look for the better of everyone.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." - Martin Luther King Jr.

What a great dream! A dream where everyone would truly be considered equal.

You know – I would say that Jesus himself had a dream for us. One that would have shown as equals – but in a far much more beautiful way than just that.

MLKJ – is one who really held values in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. What's interesting is people look up to MLKJ as a Civil Rights Activist. People also tend to look up to Mahatma Gandhi in a way where he sought peace.

What's interesting – is although Gandhi may not have been a Christian – you will find one notable piece of information about Gandhi. At a certain point in his life – Gandhi, started to read the Sermon on the Mount, and not just once, but read the Sermon on the Mount every single day!

Before I continue – I highly recommend reading the Sermon on the Mount – found in Matthew Chapters 5 – 7 – or you can perhaps watch the video here(ignore the time – but the passage is 25 minutes long):

Interesting facts now, don't you think? MLKJ held to Christians values most specifically the Sermon on the Mount values – and Gandhi truly thought that the Christians he didn't like should be more like their Jesus, in the way described in the Sermon on the Mount.

Fascinating stuff I say! I also say this because both of these people were Civil Rights Activists and people would listen to both of these people. Were they dreaming up some new idea and/or concept? Absolutely not!

This was an idea and concept that Jesus taught about 2000 years ago. A concept of love your enemy, love your neighbour as yourself, and most notably, when people talk about freedoms – they will point to people like MLKJ, Gandhi, and others – but rarely do people point to the Great Teacher of this – who is Jesus.

What's interesting is Jesus himself said:
John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

I'm not saying Jesus taught Gandhi nor did He teach MLKJ – but I can tell you one thing, the things that Jesus said, or the things that Jesus did obviously had an effect on these people and on many others.

The Sermon on the Mount – Love, Hope, Peace. Yes there are harsh words in there – but those harsh words are to demonstrate if we actually do love ourselves, but also that we love our neighbours as ourselves.

I would say – the best outlook on Hope in that Sermon on the Mount comes in the Beatitudes.
Blessed are the poor in Spirit
Blessed are they that mourn
Blessed are the meek
Blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness
Blessed are the merciful
Blessed are the pure in heart
Blessed are the peacemakers
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake

It's clear here – Jesus was addressing different groups of people – but at the same time the same people. He's showing his Love and compassion – awareness that people are going through tough times. The thing is – it doesn't just end with who he's addressing – it continues with what the blessing shall be.

What's interesting though – is it doesn't stop there. He continues after the Beatitudes to state that “You are the salt of the Earth” - so just because you are merciful 100% of the time, doesn't mean you can be trampled on. You can address how you feel and still be merciful and pure in heart, etc.

MLKJ – in his I have a dream speech did things quite similar.

I have a dream....INPUTS IDEA/DREAM HERE.....SAYS what we need to do to reach that idea/dream.

As said before – giving a person Hope is a powerful thing. Take it away from people and usually they don't want to listen to you. Take hope away from people, and they'll walk away.

Hope isn't just something that Religious people need. Hope is something that all people need. Jesus knew that. MLKJ taught in that way, and how many others provide that same type of delivery.

If you want to be like someone – study what they did; study what they studied; study what their teachers taught.

If I want to be like Jesus – I should very much look at the Bible for this. All the information I can get is from there. I may get some insight from outside the Bible – but it's important to study even those details, as some details may contradict what Jesus said.

If I want to be like Jesus – I have to believe and agree that it's ok for a man to cry. Did you know the shortest verse in the Bible is: “Jesus wept.”?

If I want to be like MLKJ – I need to learn where he got his ideas from for “I have a dream”.
