I'm a follower of Jesus... Part II

With some of the feedback I received on my last post – I thought it would be stupid to tardy my next post – some of the feedback actually provided some good ideas, that actually goes along with part of my message.

Essentially – down with the monetary/economic systems that are in play across the globe and replace them with doing things for others out of love – simply because you love your neighbour as yourself.

Now – some will say – what did Jesus say about this?

Well, I could go down the path that talks about him saying sell everything you have and follow me(Matthew 19:21)?

Not today, that’s not where we’re going today.

Down with Economy you say?!?

Matthew 21:12-13 12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Jesus cast out everything that people were selling out of the temple of God.  Jesus overthrew the tables of the money changers.  Interesting stuff – I say interesting because it does get better.  There’s more on the topic…..

John 2:13-16  13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

Interesting eh?  Jesus himself – just a man, is able to make a scourge of small cords and use it to whip at people – to cast them out of the temple of God.  Now this in itself was the temple of God – the House of the LORD.

Jesus drove these people out of the Temple.  Jesus overturned the money changers tables – and was he arrested, stoned or scourged for this?  Not at all.

How is it that Jesus can do all these things, and has authority to do these things and make the world RIGHT, and have people loving one another, yet Jesus’ followers can’t do the same.

Sometimes I really truly feel what Mahatma Gandhi said is true:
“I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians.  They are so unlike your Christ.”
 – Mahatma Gandhi

It’s true.  Yes it’s true – and it’s pathetic.  Let’s call ourselves Christians but live in a way that Jesus lived.  Jesus took down the authorities and principalities of the world.  Christians today are scared if they did something that someone would persecute them or something.

Why is it that Jesus can do this?  Well – let’s see….
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Oh right – Jesus is the Light of the World – he has full authority to do all of that.  And we are just His followers – we’re not able to do the things He did.  WOW!  Really?!?!  Talk about the biggest lie that crawled out of HELL to tell you that one.

Jesus said: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (Matthew 5:14)

Now – what’s interesting about that is – Jesus calls us the light of the world.  We should have the same authority to a degree as Him – so long as we do things the way He did and with the same motive as He had.  What’s great about this Light of the world that we are – is Jesus describes it.  A city on a hill that cannot be hid.  WOAH!  What?

Christians for the most part I would say are hiding.  They don’t want to offend anyone.  They don’t want to get caught up and end up in trouble.

Let me tell you – it’s not about what kind of trouble you’re going to end up in.  It’s about the Revolution you’re going to begin.  Yes – you may end up thrown in jail – but eventually you’ll be let out.  Look at the OT people who were arrested or wanted to be killed and were later let go.

To name a few.  What did all these people do?  They helped change the World for the better.

Stop for a few minutes and start asking yourself a few questions.  Imagine for a moment – that Jesus never came, and we’re still in the Old Covenant.  We’re living in a world that’s much like it is.

We’re enslaved by the Government, the Banks and other things.  You’re continually paying taxes, or paying your mortgage payment.  You’re always having to pay all this stuff and getting abused and beat up until you pay it back or pay it off.

Jesus comes around – and what does he do – he throws over the government, he throws over the money tables – AND now – yes now, we live in a New Covenant, when we were given this gift – the ability to do the same things and make this a New planet.  A planet where people can truly and freely love everyone and not be enslaved to making that credit card payment or paying your property taxes or who knows what else.

The thing is – you can overthrow it all.  If done for the right reasons – it can be done.  The only person who’s capable of setting us free from this right now is ourselves – and in my view that would mean, that the Kingdom of Heaven is already upon us.

Let us see everyone – that we have the ability to change things.  If you don’t know how – I’d suggest just reading up on what Jesus did – because He did it in a way that was right.  There was no war.  Millions of people didn’t die.  One person died – Jesus died.

How many people have died in the last week due to drone attacks or our militaries being sent in other countries?  Too many.

Let’s be the change!  #ChangeTheWorld
